Keep doing what is right without expectations and you will never be let down by your Karma. Don’t seek validation for anything you do, do not seek praise and do not expect from any relationship or from any circumstance. If you do, it will ultimately bring pain.

Expectations are the cause of most of the heartbreaks. And why is it we keep expecting from others, why can’t we expect from ourselves that we discontinue expecting from others. If we can disappoint ourselves by not shunning this habit of expecting from others, this habit of expectations also would keep disappointing us.

Buddha said,” Root of all suffering is attachment”. Out of attachment we start expecting a lot from people around us and when those expectations don’t get fulfilled we get disappointed. Hence it is not the people who disappoint us but our expectations which are figment of our mind.
Some of the best things in our life happen to us when we had not even expected them, it is complete surprise and that make us extremely happy. It is like meeting someone without having to wait for him/her but expecting is like waiting forever for a person who never turns up.
Don’t trade in your feelings. Do not help someone because you later expect something in return. Help without any expectation so that if a person later cannot be of help to you, you do not regret helping him earlier.
Lord Krishna had said in Gita that intention behind the action matters. If we do an action with a desire for the fruits it bears, we will always be miserable because of the anxiety about the results it will yield. Never work for the reward, never long for inaction. Work, for it is your karma and forget about the fruits it will bear.

So enjoy the journey of life without thinking about what your future will bring for you. We lose the moment we are having by worrying for something we have not yet seen.
So lets not engage in planting expectations as we will reap only disappointments.
