Twisted Random Thoughts

Random thoughts with no connection to each other. If you want, you can make it.

Somethings we have read before and somethings we know already (please do not connect this line to my earlier blog “ I know nothing and nothing lasts forever”), I meant it for that write up only and that message does not last forever. Now it is up to you to criticize me. And this reminds me of this quote “There is only one way to avoid criticism: do nothing, say nothing, and be nothing.” by Aristotle. Sorry, again I brought up this NOTHING.

I keep reading the quotes as a detox for my soul every now and then. They work as an elixir of life. We, as human beings, go through different phases of life experiencing happiness, sorrows, success, failures, togetherness, loneliness, attachment, detachment, humiliation, honours and so on. These quotes work for everybody as they are the truths of the journey called life. Life is a great teacher but depends on us how we learn from it. If there is something to learn, learn it now. “Only put off until tomorrow what you are willing to die having left undone.”-Pablo Picasso

“To handle yourself, use your head; to handle others, use your heart.” – Anna Eleanor Roosevelt. So these days I am using my head so much to handle myself, don’t take me wrong, not just these days I have always used my head. What I wanted to say is, these days I am constantly arguing in my head if everything is predestined – why then we are required to do karma? I get questions on one side of my head and the other side keeps answering me. It says that whatever happens in our life is predestined but how we choose to react ( better word – respond) is our karma – so when something happens in our life we did not choose it to happen, the trigger is happening of an event in our life which further triggers an action which determines again what will happen in future due to that action of ours. We did not choose our parents and our family, this was predestined.

Some people come into our lives, this is also destined but who stays in our lives as friend, lover, or life partner depends partly on our karma and partly on theirs. You cannot grow a plant purely on soil and fertilizer it needs sunlight, air and water as well. So does relationships in our lives. It is much easier to forgive the worst of mistakes of our blood relationships or family but we are less tolerant of the relationships that we choose to be in or that we make ourselves. In Hindu philosophy, it is said that we shout at each other in anger because we have grown distant to each other and are feeling disconnected. We speak softly when we are in love and connected to each other and shout when out of love though for a few minutes or hours. Why it is easier to stay in blood relationships despite large differences and why it suffocates to live with a life partner with even mediocre ones. Sorry I am not having a partner but tried visualising it, visualisation itself was painful and I cannot be indifferent to this realisation of visualisation.

“Remember that the happiest people are not those getting more, but those giving more.”– H. Jackson Brown, Jr. But in marriage sometimes this may hold opposite – the one who is giving constantly becomes the unhappy party. “If life were predictable, it would cease to be life, and be without flavour.” —Eleanor Roosevelt. Same is true for any marriage or relationship. If you get to know what you are getting into it will be like a dish with a bland taste or a novel whose ending you already know and it becomes uninteresting to read.

“A good leader is a person who takes a little more than his share of the blame and a little less than his share of the credit.” – John Maxwell. I could hear someone whispering this is the definition of a married man and not a good leader. Yes, I can see married men smiling.

“The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts.” – Bertrand Russell. Reading this quote gives me immense peace as I am always full of doubts.LOL.

“We all have only two lives. The second one starts when we realize we only have one.”- Confucious. Seriously only this week I had this awakening and I am going to make this second life better than the first one.

This blog was destined to come to you, it is your karma or choice to read it or not. And if you choose to read it, please share any of your favourite quote with a twist. Keep having random thoughts, I twist to get fun out of them because someone said to me once – “Normal is boring”.

  7. Loved all the beautiful quotes – and your thoughts and take on them.
I always struggle with understanding Karma however how you have explained is so reassuring. It motivates to “respond” positively creating the right “trigger”!!
