Two sides of the story!

Is this road ending or starting!

A coin has  two sides.

A story can have two sides too.

You cannot clap with one hand but definitely can slap with one. So it is always better to hear the two sides if there are two or else the clap would become a slap.

Does truth has one version, yes it does! But it has two different versions for two different people and this even changes the truth because it gets deconstructed by how  two people perceive the whole situation by paying attention to details that interests them and ignoring what does not. The same truth which was a fact becomes a story which is reconstructed by different perceptions. Fact is objective, but stories are selective and subjective and once we know the facts we make the sense of it in subconscious subjective way. We as humans cannot be 100% objective about anything in our life. We all think we are too intelligent for someone else to give us advice and tell us what is right. But when it is convenient we seek the same advice from others when we are stuck up and need help.

Coming back to the two sides of the story. One situation but we see it differently. Hence if  we  don’t hear the two sides of the same story, we may misjudge the whole situation. So do we have patience to listen with wider perspective and without flinching? Do we wish to listen to the problem or jump the gun and try to bend the information the way it agrees with our beliefs and give the reply even before listening to the whole story?  Do we listen to the two sides of the story or  even after listening to both sides,  we still take side of one because we have already decided what is right – because that is what suits us and agrees with our pre- existing assumptions. If this happens we can be at fault of making wrong judgement when we have already decided who is right or wrong even before listening to the full version.

Every story has two sides, that is why misunderstandings in this world. “I am right” extend to every sphere of our life and what does not agree with our thinking becomes absolute wrong. We sometimes want “agreeing” people around us to give us advice, advice that we want to hear, advice what we already want to do. But then why do we need advice? Are we  seeking reconfirmation to what is already confirmed to us?

If we are someone who like sycophancy then we  will always dislike people disagreeing with us , these people suddenly lose all our respect. Their honest opinion is taken negatively which  goes to show we are too full of ourselves. When we just love our voice we miss out what others have to say. We engage in honest and direct discussion with those who are genuinely interested in our viewpoint but those who disagree with our viewpoint are sarcastically disliked, this may include best of people around us.

It happens with all of us and it is part of our human nature, some admit and others think  admitting will belittle them.

Let’s try always that the slap be on subjectivity and clap on objectivity !

Keep Sparkling!
